Before uploading a Canva design, check its dimensions, image quality, edges, and export settings. These steps help you send artwork that fits the product you want to order.
Choose PDF Print for the best quality
For the best print quality, Onyx Print Group recommends downloading your Canva design as a PDF using the PDF Print option. PDF can preserve sharp text and vector artwork while keeping the layout together. For clear areas in acrylic signs or window clings, use a transparent PNG. A JPG or PDF prints its file background.
Check the instructions for your chosen product as you work. Canva's menus and available features can vary by device, design type, and account plan.
Set the correct finished size
Confirm the width, height, and measurement units. A landscape design that is 24 inches wide and 18 inches tall has different proportions from an 18-inch-wide, 24-inch-tall design.
Use the full finished dimensions whenever Canva allows. If a smaller design is necessary, keep the same width-to-height proportions and check image resolution at the final print size. Enlarging a half-size design to full size halves the effective resolution of its photos. For example, 300 pixels per inch becomes 150. Review the placement of text, photos, and logos after any resize.
Printing cards or postcards? Review premium cardstock sizes and sheet quantities before exporting your Canva artwork.
Use clear original images
Upload the best original logo or photo available. A screenshot or small image saved from a website may look acceptable on a phone but become soft or blocky when enlarged.
Resolution describes the detail available in an image at its printed size. Increasing a resolution number cannot restore missing detail. Canva's PDF Print option is intended for printing, but low-quality pictures can still look blurry in the exported PDF. Replace weak images before downloading.
Check the edges
Keep important text and logos inside the safe area specified for your product. This gives them room away from trimmed edges and, where relevant, mounting holes.
Onyx online orders never require bleed or crop marks. Bleed is extra background artwork beyond the finished edge; crop marks indicate where a print should be trimmed.
Extend full-background artwork to the edge of the page. Leave Canva's crop marks and bleed option unchecked when downloading.
Download and review the actual file
Open Share, choose Download, and select PDF Print. Select only the pages needed for your order. Use a transparent PNG instead when your acrylic design needs clear areas.
Either RGB or CMYK is accepted for Onyx online ordering. Use whichever color setting is available in your Canva export; no conversion is required. If your plan only offers RGB, that is fine for your Onyx order. Printed colors may still differ from your screen.
Open the downloaded file and check spelling, phone numbers, images, and page orientation. Then review the upload preview on the Onyx product page. The website preview serves as your proof, and completing checkout approves it for printing. Make corrections before placing the order, and keep the final file for future reorders.
